About Us
People for People is a consortium of six charities set up to
maximise the income which can be generated through Payroll
Giving.
Our mission is the relief of poverty and the advancement of education
across the world. This is done by enabling the member charities
to better meet their respective charitable purposes through financial
support. Indeed, all of the money raised by People for People
is split equally between each of the member charities.
Background
In 1986 Fairshares was established to create a network
of charities under one name, all providing support to people in
the developing
world. Since then, the support of the general public has made
it possible to fund many projects, and have helped hundreds
of thousands of people tackle disadvantage, disability and
disease.
At the beginning of 2002 Fairshares changed its name to People
for People, a name which better expresses
the aim of the charity
- bringing together people in the UK with those in the developing
world. The goal is still the same, to give communities the assistance
they need now, so they can build a better future for themselves.
People for People is a registered charity number 297118.
